I create art which has a fun, whimsical attitude. My aim is not to make laboured social statements but rather to create delightful pieces which embody a sense of playfulness. This is achieved by combining craft and fine art principles.
Although there is social content embedded within the works, the audience is highly receptive of art which is created to please both the eye and to intrigue - or tickle - the mind.
My prime source of inspiration is my vast collection of yarn and patterned papers. I start a work by rummaging through my stockpile and layering ideas until I have a composition that makes me smile and gives me that aha feeling.
It is hard to identify direct influences on my work, apart from fusing the traditional female crafts technique of crochet with the fine arts technique of oil painting. This merging of two worlds has become an expression of my unique artistic passion and vision.
