I usually work with grey colors in my paintings - symbolic for the relevance of everything and everyone in my creations. Grey is a combination of white and black - like our existence. Grey doesn't choose any sides, it's just the transformation from white to black and black to white. Grey symbolizes security, silence, humbleness and calmness. White is pure, clean, simple and peaceful. Black is mysterious, uncertain, death and sexuality. Alfa and Omega, the jing and yang, everyone and everything is grey - a mixture and shading of good and bad, beautiful and ugly, and everything in-between. I use a solid background and definite outlines in my paintings to silence the noise in the world and to keep people at a distance to protect my personal space.
